Dominican School

The Vocational school for the deaf in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, (Centro de Vocation Escuela Sordos)

DTC Rotary pays the salaries of the instructors in the vocational school, which includes woodworking, sewing, computer training, and beautician school. The school is working toward being self-sufficient by selling their goods that they make. Check out the fish basket/trivet. Very ingenious, functional and beautiful!

School for the Deaf Beautician School

The students at the School for the Deaf are now operating the best equipped beauty salon in Puerta Plata and helping the school move toward financial self sufficiency.

Aids Clinic

DTC Rotary has supported the AIDS clinic in Puerto Plata, CEPROSH, which provides formula for babies whose mothers are HIV positive to prevent the babies from contracting HIV from being breast fed and education to the community on the dangers of unprotected sex and ways to avoid HIV infection.  It also helps those with HIV learn more about the disease and find treatment, and it recently started raising funds to support children whose parents have died from AIDS.
